Limoges T&V Set of 8 Plates Pink & White Poppies Artist M. A beautiful LIMOGES T&V Set of 8 Decorative Dessert PLATES featuring HAND PAINTED Pink & White POPPIES with LEAVES & Buds by the artist M. Begun in the 1850's, Vogt & Dose became Tressemann & Vogt when Emillien Tressemann joined the company in 1882. This was essentially a decorating studio which began manufacturing their own china in 1891 in Limoges, France. The company continued until it was dissolved due to the retirement of Tressemann in 1907.

T&V is well known for its quality whiteware and boldly decorated hand paintings. Interesting enough, we find Tressemann spelled as Tressemanes or Tresseman in multiple authoritative sources. The green T&V underglaze mark on this is Mary Frank Gaston's mark #7 in Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition.

This plate is beautifully decorated with pastel very realistic looking pink & white poppies. O'Neill, painted the white poppies in the negative space technique using the white of the porcelain to color the poppy bloom. The plates are trimmed in gold around the smooth rim.

The washes behind the flowers makes them seem to pop out at you. Each plate is artist signed with M. We provide one photo of the entire set of plates and one photo of each of the 8 plates so you can see each one in close-up detail. Looking carefully, you can pick out subtle differences from plate to plate which is always true with hand painted sets. This just adds to their beauty and the authenticity of the set.

The condition of these plates is excellent. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings or hairlines. The gold appears nearly perfect as applied with slight age appropriate wear on one plate.

The diameter of each plate is 7 3/8" and each stands 7/8" high. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not part of this listing. See additional international policies below.
