Limoges Plates Set of 4 Hand Painted Grapes withGold La Porcelaine 1905-1930's HTF

  

A beautiful LIMOGES Decorative Set of 4 PLATES from La Porcelaine Limousine with Hand Painted Cluster of GRAPES with Leaves & Vine , circa 1905-late 1930's. Martial Redon worked with Gibus from the mid-1850's to 1881. Then he took over the company in 1882 calling it Martial Redon Limoges while continuing to manufacture white ware.

Martial Redon died in 1890, but the company and its marks were continued by his son, J. By 1906, new owners changed the pottery name to La Porcelaine Limousine and also changed the white ware mark used to reflect this while continuing to use the M.

They continued in business until the late 1930's. The mark on these plates is identified by Mary Frank Gaston in Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition as mark #1 used 1905-late 1930's.

The mark seems to be in a smaller typeset on one of the plates and a larger typeset on the other 3. The condition of this set is excellent.

We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings or hairlines.

The gold appears to be as applied--highlighting the smooth rims of the set. We find no utensil marks or scratches on any. Please inspect the photos carefully. As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky. The artwork on these is beautiful with the grapes seeming to glisten in their tight clusters. We have included a full frontal photo of each plate with close-ups of one random plate. The hand painting varies slightly from plate to plate which just adds to the charm of the set. Each plate has a diameter of between 8 5/8" to 8 3/4" and stands 7/8 high. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
