Offered is a lovely Limoges Pickard China Antique Chocolate Pot Iris Hand Painted at the Pickard Studios circa 1905 Signed Lind. It is in the New Iris Conventional pattern which was exclusive to Pickard. The pitcher as decorated can be seen in Allen Reed's Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China 1995 pg 115. The porcelain was made by Gerard, Dufraisseix and Abbott GDA Factory. With the lid on, the pot stands 11 1/2" tall and is about 5 1/2" at it's widest point to the end of the handle.
The shape is elongated with a scroll look handle and a bow finial on the top. There are 4 tall hand painted Irises with a look of dancing in the breeze. There are heavy gold gilt accents. The lid is decorated with 4 irises as well. The pot is signed by well known Pickard artist Fredrick J Lindner, it is also marked gda/France in green, which is Mark 1 used by this porcelain factory in the early 20th Century.
It is also stamped with a circular red mark Hand Painted China Pickard A. There is no crazing, repairs or cracks. There is minor wear except where the lid rests on the rim due to age and use. There is also a small flea bite hardly noticeable on the right side of the spout which I did document in pictures 11 & 12. A Beautiful Collectors Piece just in time for the Holidays.
