Limoges Hand Painted Signed Penitent Magdalene Woman & Skull & Gold Tray. Large antique French porcelain tray. Decorated with a hand painted Penitent Magadelene scene with woman, book, and skull. Heavy gold gilding along the edge. Signed by the artist A.

Marked on the reverse J. This is an underglaze whiteware mark used by Jean Pouyat in Limoges France between 1891 and 1932. Has a few small spots of wear to the gilding, but otherwise excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 17 5/8 inches long x 14 1/4 inches wide.
