Limoges Grape Hand Painted Tankard

  

This hand-painted tankard from Limoges is a stunning piece of French pottery from the early 19th century. The artist added fine enameling to the grapes for added artistic dimension that brings them to life. The detail and array of color are fabulously painted by the artist, who signed the bottom, but it is impossible to decipher. The original JPL limoges blank features a ridged bottom and beautiful handle. The top edge is gilded and the gild shows light normal age wear.

It is marked with the Pouyat Limoges Mark 7 and impressed with the number. That dates this piece 1891 to 1932.
