We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. It is clean & white on the back. The gold either has age appropriate wear or was originally applied to appear as such. There is no wear to the paint.
DIMENSIONS: This plate has a diameter of 9 3/4" with a height of 1 1/4". Was apparently a New York importing company with ties to both Limoges, France and Bavaria. Most Flambeau China marks carry the L. Initials as part of the mark. The quality of painting by Flambeau was quite high and many of the famous Limoges artists' signatures such as Rene', Dubois, Luc, Levy, Max or Andre' can be found on their wares.
No examples have been found decorated by American artists (Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition). The green underglaze white ware mark on this charger is that of Flambeau China L. The artist, Max, worked for many Limoges pottery studios including J. Boyer, Coronet, Flambeau, Pouyat, L.
