Limoges Coiffe 4 B&B Plates T&V #6326 Carnations withGold 1892-1907 Hand Painted

  

DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are bright & realistic. This was hand painted on a blank of fine white china. The whimsical design has both solid and stippled gold.

The colors used on the carnation sprays are orange, yellow, purple, pink, and green on the white porcelain. The embossing and scalloping on the dessert plates makes them very pretty.

The decorative dessert/bread & butter plates are beautiful and could be used for a variety of purposes. Being from the early 1890's, this is a great example of the porcelain of that era. These plates were lovingly used for many years.

We were very fortunate to find a large collection of this pattern, #6326, that is in superb condition. Note that some of the items were manufactured by Coiffe & decorated by T&V while others were manufactured and decorated by T&V.

CONDITION: While this set of 4 bread & butter/dessert plates is classified as used, the condition is superb. The gold on the rim does not show any minor wear to the points on the jagged rim. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be no crazing. Study the photos to see this.

The gold and paint are beautiful. DIMENSIONS: The plates have a diameter of 5 3/4" and a height of 3/4". HISTORY/MARKS: Begun in the 1850's, Vogt & Dose became Tressemann & Vogt when Emillien Tressemann joined the company in 1882. This was essentially a decorating studio which began manufacturing their own china in 1891 in Limoges, France. The company continued until it was dissolved due to the retirement of Tressemann in 1907.

T&V is well known for its quality whiteware and boldly decorated hand paintings. The marks used on this item are the manufacturers underglaze mark in green referenced in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition as mark #2 for Coiffe. Coiffe started the prolific Limoges porcelain factory and studio during the mid-1870's and his son, E. Coiffe, continued the operation starting in 1887 and continuing until the mid-1920's.
