LIMOGES 14.5 Platter & 6 MINTONE 8.25 Plates RK Beck Transfer Pre-1892 Birds

  
Closely matching set of a LIMOGES platter & 6 MINTONE plates with gorgeous birds. This set has been together for more then a century - I felt it best to sell it together. Platter is marked LIMOGES CHINA - features a beautiful pair of Chinese Golden Pheasants with blue & gold details. Measures 14-1/2" long; 11-1/4" wide and stands about 1-1/2 tall. There is a tiny 1/8 inch chip on the underside rim.

The Pheasants appear to be a transfer (almost exact match to the plates). Notice a smudge on the transfer between the bird's tails.

This is under the glaze and a manufacturing error. Plates are transfers of artist R. Beck's bird paintings - Plates are 8-1/4 wide with blue & gold detailing.

King Quail plate has a approximate 1 crack that is visible on the back - no marks. Pheasant plate is marked MINTONE. Turkey plate has no marks. Mallard duck plate has no marks.

Peacock plate is marked MINTONE. Guinea Fowl plate is marked MINTONE. NOTE: Dating of plates is pre-1892. The MINTONE Company dropped the "E" from their name in 1892. The Mintone Company was located in Limoges, France.

CONDITION: Every plate has crazing as would be expected from 100+ year old plates. The platter has a tiny chip on the underside edge and the smudge in the transfer as mentioned.

One plate has a crack that is seen on the underside, but not very noticeable on the front. There is wear to the gold trim and it is missing in areas. These are old plates and not perfect but still incredibly beautiful. I would gladly provide more photos in messages if you want them, just contact me. Plates will be doubled boxed, padded with foam and insured. Each item is packed with care. Measurements should be considered approximate.
