Extraordinary 39 Piece Hand Painted Limoges Declaration of Indepence Portraits

  

This is an extraordinary set of hand-painted Limoges. The set consists of 12 cups, 12 saucers, 12 dessert plates, teapot or chocolate pot, creamer, and sugar. The artist signed his chocolate pot MPL 1909. We believe each piece is representative of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

This set was never used only displayed and has been packed away for over 50 years. The chocolate cups are 2" tall x 2 1/4" in diameter without the handles.

The handles are gold, the interior of the cups is gold. Each portrait of the men is painted within a soft green panel with a deep green body. Many are smoking a clay pipe and most are wearing tricorn hats. The saucers are deep green with gold trim.

The dessert plates each display a portrait in the center. The chocolate or teapot stands 7 1/4" tall x 4 3/8" diameter at the base x 6 1/4 from handle to spout.

Open sugar and creamer both have gold interior with gold handles. The sugar is 2 3/4" tall x 4 5/8" from handle to handle. The creamer is 3" tall x 3 3/4" from spout to handle. All are in excellent pristine condition.
