Coronet Limoges Plate 10 1/4 Hand Painted René Forest Winter Scene Gold 1920's. Elegant Decorative 10 1/4 PLATE from CORONET (George Borgfeldt) Limoges, France, HAND PAINTED by a Renown Limoges Artist René, Beautiful WINTER FOREST SNOW Scene, GOLD on Smooth Rim, production time period circa 1920's. DESCRIPTION: This plate was designed in a very classic pattern with a hand painted winter forest snow by the renown, talented Limoges artist, René. This artist is listed in the reference books. The overall quality of the design is quite professional.

The scene looks so peaceful and tranquil. The hand painting looks very realistic and reminds me so much of the woodlands here when we get the occasional snow. The rim is smooth and painted with gold. To see more of René's work, consult Mary Frank Gaston's Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain 3rd Edition book on page 83 or search online.

The back of the plate is the high white of the porcelain. CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, its condition is superb.

We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is no wear to the paint or gold.

DIMENSIONS: The plate has a diameter of 10 1/4" and a height of 1 1/4". HISTORY/MARKS: George Borgfeldt operated a New York importing company specializing in high end decorated porcelain from Limoges, France and Bavaria, Germany. Borgfeldt established art studios in both France and Germany. The French Studio trademarked Coronet was located in Paris, but the white ware for this plate was manufactured in Limoges.

Mary Frank Gaston in Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition, refers to the decorator mark on this plate as mark #2 used in the 1920's. The circa for this plate is the 1920's time period. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not part of this listing.
