Antique Jean Pouyet Limoges France Relief Plate Early Rare. One of a kind plate produced between 1842 and 1911 by Limoges. What makes this plate so special are the subtle details in the workmanship and use of a white on white effect between background and foreground. Notable details include the center spade shaped medallion which when seen closely shows not only this medallion but around its unused perimeter are four flowers that appear to be daffodils with leaves that are interspersed between the main medallion. Also, there are 4 bouquets of ribbon and bow around the edges of the plate which are uniquely and unexpectedly done in an elegant bisque fashion. As a final subtle touch centered right above each of these bouquets is a subtle notch on the edge of the plate to give the plate just a touch more grace. Finally, when plate is held up to the light the incised flowers in center medallion are translucent. The plate measures 9.25 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition. The back of plate is marked with letters JPL.
