Charles Ahrenfeldt SAXE Hand-Painted POPPY PLATES Set of 11. Pattern has hand-painted poppies with green vines/leaves around in the center and border finished with green rim on a scalloped edge. Back is stamped with the green Crown Saxe mark and the numbers 4725/1654, and impressed z over 52 802 and 21.

Charles Ahrenfeldt was known for importing high-end French and German porcelains. He had a decorating studio in France with some top decorators and artists in the area.

He began importing his porcelain to New York in the 1830s. Plates measure 8 ¾ in diameter. All are in very good antique condition free of chips, cracks or repairs except for the following. One plate has small hairline crack on the rim, one plate has a small chip on the back which cannot be seen from the front, and one plate has a chip on the back that appears to be finished over during manufacturing as its been glazed over and is smooth also cannot be seen from front. There are a few minor scratches and some minor wear on a few green rims commensurate with age and use.
