LIMOGES GUILLOCHE ENAMEL PORTRAIT VASE WOMAN PICKING FLOWERS 100% HAND PAINTED. A charming and finely executed Limoges guilloche enamel vase. Limoges enamel is a bit of a generic term for pieces like this that were produced primarily in the southwestern portion of France from the 12. This piece features a 100% hand-painted full-length portrait of a lovely woman picking flowers.

She is dressed in a very colorful outfit and there is red foil coloring to her jacket and the ribbon on her hat that are just strikingly beautiful. The portrait is painted over a guilloche enamel background that fades from a pale green color at the foot to a light grey color at the top rim; very unusual in my experience to see guilloche enamel on one of these vases. The enameling appears to have been done over brass, as most of these are.

This piece has been in my personal collection since the year 2008. The vase is artist signed with what I believe to be a stylized signature of J P Loy which is just to the right of the bottom of the womans dress. The portrait is well painted by a very skilled artist.

I find no other markings on the vase. Regardless, a strikingly beautiful, vase with an unusual decoration and in great original condition! Dont miss this opportunity to own it. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the enamel and no dents, dings or breaks to the metal. The portrait area is unmarked. All I will mention is a bit of tarnish to the metal and I made no attempt to do any cleaning or polishing to the metal. Anything else you may think you see is a reflection in the photos to the very shiny surface of the vase. Really in extremely fine condition for a 100+ year old piece of hand-painted enamel work. Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times bigger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.

It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. The vase is about 1.625 (4.1 cm) in diameter at the widest and sits about 4.375 (11.1 cm) off the table at the top rim. About 2.625 ounces (73 grams).
