DESCRIPTION: The decorative pitcher was manufactured, designed, and decorated in the Elite Works Studio. The designer of the decoration was most talented. The overall quality of the design is quite professional. The gold is applied using two different methods and is very rich looking. The spout, one side of the rim and the handle have stippled gold whereas the other side of the rim has a wide area of solid gold. Or perhaps what looks like stippled gold on the top of the rim is really age appropriate wear. The scrolls on the lower part are both solid in places and stippled in others. The blackberries are nestled in their leaves which are gold outlined and gold veined. The green leaves vary greatly in color even including light and dark orange. The gold outlined stems even have gold thorns! Look at the photos to see the beauty of this pitcher. CONDITION: While this decorative pitcher is classified as used, its condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines.

Overall, the gold is solid & glossy. Perhaps what looks like stippled gold on the top of the rim is really age appropriate wear. DIMENSIONS: The pitcher has a maximum diameter of 5 1/4" and a height of 10 1/2".

The measurement from the handle to the opposite side is 5 3/4. HISTORY/MARKS: In the 1860s, Bawo & Dotter was established in New York City for the purpose of importing china, especially Limoges porcelain. The firm established its own decorating studio in Limoges, France in the early 1870s named The Elite Works. Bawo & Dotter began manufacturing its own china in 1896 in Limoges. It also carries the brown "Hand Painted" banner from Elite Works.
