HISTORY/MARKS: In the 1860s, Bawo & Dotter was established in New York City for the purpose of importing china, especially Limoges porcelain. The firm established its own decorating studio in Limoges, France in the early 1870s named The Elite Works. Bawo & Dotter began manufacturing its own china in 1896 in Limoges. It also carries the brown "Hand Painted" banner from Elite Works.
