Rare 1955 LE TALLEC PARIS Handpainted Limoges Porcelain. When only the very finest will do! Outstanding Atelier Camille Le Tallec Vanity Set. It is rare to find a set with all four pieces and in this case the design is simply extraordinary.

I believe this pattern was called "Oiseaux de Sevres" or "Oiseaux Polychromes sur Or Mat". This set was made c.

1955 painted and gilted by hand by Le Tallec especially for Limoges Unic Paris. Pink and gold and a colorful arrays of detailed bird figures. For reference, this pattern in shown on pages 64-66 of Keith and Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde book Atelier Le Tallec Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain for Connoisseurs, Royalty and Tiffany & Co. They state that the design is based upon a traditional Sevres pattern from the early nineteenth century, but the Le Tallec interpretation adds more flowers and changes the colors of the birds.

Covered Powder: 2 parts - base and lid. About 4 1/4 in diameter. Smaller Jar: 2 parts - jar and stopper.

Base is 3 3/8" x 2 3/8" with eight sides. Some minor rub wear to the gilt on the neck of the jar (see photo). One tiny loss to the gold at bottom edge. One tiny loss to the gold on decorative area.

Larger Jar: 2 parts - jar and stopper. Base is 3 7/8" x 2 3/4" with eight sides. Two very tiny rub wear spots on neck.

Minor loss to gilt in one spot on bottom edge (see photo). One speck loss to gold in decorative area. Small area of damage on the stopper (see enlarged photo).

When I shake the stopper, I can hear a little something inside. Matching Tray: 12 1/2 in diameter. Rub wear to the gold gilt along the outer edge of the rim.

There is a visible 1" x 1/2" area of damage which has been repaired. Three photos of different views of this area included. Back view show small hairline. Please assume the repaired area might be larger that I can actually see. All that said, my eyes are not perfect and as hard as I try to find every flaw, some can be missed.

This set sells "as is", so if you can not accept the fact that there has been a repair and there are some small flaws, please shop elsewhere. Le Tallec was a Paris studio known for fine hand decorated work on Limoges porcelain.

The studio was founded in the 1930s by Camille Le Tallec d. Every piece was entirely hand painted and of very high quality. This particular piece was made for Limoges Unic. Since the 1930, Limoges Unic has been admired as one of the finest and most respected shops in Paris for luxury goods, retailing Limoges, Christolfe, Baccaret, Sevres etc.

The date coding for this set is on the back of the tray. There is a script L T motif. Inside the LT motif there are two sets of letters. The letter code in the upper part indicates the date of production. Looks like a "CC" which would date the piece to 1955. Below that are the artist's initials "JN"(see photo). With all the finest makers closing their doors, Steuben, Le Tallec and the like, fine craftsmanship decorative arts of the 20th century will surely gain value in the years ahead when all that will be left being made is junk made in China.
