Faberge Limoges Swan Egg Limited Edition No. 56 Limited Edition Great Condition. Limited Edition No 56 of 100. Faberge limited edition Swan Egg. The egg is constructed of Limoges porcelain set with solid sterling silver fittings finished in 22K gold.

The Egg is a reproduction in sterling and porcelain of the Imperial Swan Egg given by Tsar Nicholas II to his mother Dowager Empress Marie Fedorovna in 1906, the year of her 40th wedding anniversary. The finish is in lilac adorned with a hand-applied gold leaf ribbon motif. The center clasp closing the egg is in the shape of a bow.

The Egg stands approximately 8" tall and is approximately 5-3/4" wide at the center. The surprise inside the egg is a large solid sterling silver swan finished in 24K gold. The swan is approximately 3" wide by 1.5" tall. The egg is in fantastic condition. This piece is no longer available to the public.

Egg is loose with stand, no box included. The Fabergé family originated in France but was forced to leave the country due to religious persecution.

During the 18th century, the family settled in Russia. Peter Carl Fabergé was born on May 30, 1846, the son of a goldsmith.
