Antique Limoges Cups & Saucers X 10 GDA hand Painted Art Nouveau Haviland

A beautiful set of 10 antique art nouveau coffee cups and saucers made by GDA (Gerard Dufraissiex & Abbot) Limoges, France. The cups and saucers are prettily hand painted with floral sprigs (that is very reminiscent of Dresden Flowers) and have a white moulded ground with spatter gilded rims and detailing to the ornately moulded handles. The set is marked with the green GDA mark and have an additional retailers mark for Andreolis Frere et Poccard NICE This is a high end retailer that is still in business to this day and who specialise in top quality porcelain and glass. All pieces are in excellent undamaged condition and there is very little gilt wear as can be seen by my pictures. Cups 6.5 x 6cm.

In 1881 Charles Field Haviland retired, and Charles Field Haviland & Cie was taken over by E. The new owners continued to use the CHF decorating mark but also used a CFM/GDM porcelain mark.

Apparently Charles Field Haviland continued in export/import as part of Haviland and Gagner and then Haviland and Abbot (red overglaze mark c1886-). Of their partners, Emile Gerard was director, Jean-Baptiste Dufraisseix the decorater, and Morel the color technician. Morel left in 1890, and 10 years later in 1900 Edgar Abbot, who had been partner in CHF's import firm from 1886 became a partner in what was renamed Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbot (GDA).
