Antique French Limoges Hand-painted Porcelain Oyster Plate Exc

  

Althrough this lovely oyster plate is unmarked, it was identified as Limoge by an antique shop. 6 hand painted wells feature alternating oyster hearts and an abstract brush pattern. Is an aqua blue and is rimmed in gold which shows some wear.

The entire edge of the plate is also rimmed in gold, showing minor wear. The wells which have the oysters have a subtle pink highlighting near the upper out edge o the wells. The paintings of the oyster hearts in the three wells are fairly detailed, not crude at all.

The plate shape is hexagonal with the wells extending over the edge to give a scalloped affect. It would have likely been manufactured pre- 1900.
