Straus and Sons Fish Plates and Platter. Dating from the turn off the century this set of 8 plates and 1 platter is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The only conditional item is the small rubbed gold loss on the edge of the plates (see photo).

The plates are 9 inches in diameter with 5 loosely scalloped edges. I have never seen a background so lifelike and detailed. The fish are swimming in a blue background with purple and green plants growing from above and below with salmon pinks and browns at the edges. Over the base layer are the fish detailed in gold, brown and green. On top of that there are white and gold vertical hash lines depicting moving water. The final layer is the raised paste gold plants and edges. The platter is 23 long by 9.75 wide and 1.75 deep it mimics the plates.
