I have for your consideration a spectacular Limoges France Hand Painted Porcelain Vase with amazing hand-painted decor of a dancing girl. According to the style of painting, I speculate that probably it's after the work of William Clarke Wontner 17 January 1857 - 23 September 1930 , who was an English portrait painter steeped in Academic Classicism and Romantic (not sure). This dancing girl stretches her body, and such body posture is considered to be the most beautiful female's body line, we could see in many artist works like "the birth of Venus" by Bouguereau and "Spring" by Ingres, etc.

This vase is also decorated with exquisite raised gold paste and blue enameling on the deep red background. It's marked by Jean Pouyat (JP) Factory, dated ca 1890 to 1932. Ps: The Pouyat family was one of the oldest French names connected with the Limoges porcelain industry. Jean Pouyats grandfather had a faience factory in the 1760s at St.

He also owned Kaolin factory in the area in the late 1700s. Jeans father, François, operated a hard paste porcelain factory in Paris from the early 1800s until around 1840. Jean Pouyat established a company circa 1842 at Limoges. Jean died in 1849, and the business was carried on by his son. About 1883, the company became known as La Céramique.

The Pouyat and William Guérin companies were joined in 1912. The vase measures 19.7" (50 cm) tall, 6.1" (15.5 cm) across at the mouth opening and 5.3" (13.5 cm) across at the base; the circumference is 27" (69 cm) at its widest.

The vase is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, hairline. Thank you very much for visiting my shop Rive-Gauche Antiques to see the others porcelain figurines or hand painted porcelain items: Jardinière, vase, tray, charger..
